Last year marked the first time in 75 years that the North Carolina State Fair was canceled. But it’s back for 2021, and fair manager Kent Yelverton promises “it will be worth the wait.”
In fact, says Yelverton, “Worth the Wait” is the theme for the 2021 North Carolina State Fair. “The public, the vendors and the staff are all looking forward to the return of the fair,” he says. “While we were very pleased to have been able to still offer the junior livestock show and a takeout fair food event last October, everyone missed the opportunity to get together and fully celebrate agriculture. We’re excited that it will happen this year, and we’re ready to welcome everyone back to safely share the fun.”
Here are six great opportunities to learn more about agriculture and share the fun:
North Carolina State Fair Farm Family of the Day

North Carolinians who can’t attend the State Fair will have the chance to meet 11 farm families this year through the new Farm Family of the Day program.
“By honoring the work of farm families and sharing their stories on social media, the public will learn what is involved in bringing agricultural products to market and to their homes,” Yelverton says. “It’s another way we spread the impact of agriculture beyond the fairground gates.”
