Held at Hanging Rock State Park in Danbury, Stokes Future Farmers’ Market returns for its ninth year this summer. Former Stokes County Commissioner Ronda Jones started the market in 2010 as a way to support local farmers and businesses. Since then, Stokes Future has made a name for itself as the only farmers market in North Carolina hosted by a state park. It draws in local regulars and visitors alike to browse the locally produced fruits, vegetables, meat, baked goods, artisan crafts and more.
“Hikers and visitors have told us how delighted they are to discover the market,” Park Superintendent Robin Riddlebarger says. “They can get homegrown tomatoes to add to their picnic sandwiches, fresh fruit for an energy boost and even hand-carved walking sticks.”
The market runs every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., April through November, and will run as long as the park is open. For updated information, visit facebook.com/stokesfarmersmarket.
