Learn a few fun facts about North Carolina Christmas trees.

  • Real Christmas trees take seven to eight years to mature.
  • More than 94% of all Christmas trees grown in the state are Fraser firs.
  • North Carolina is home to more than 850 growers producing Fraser fir Christmas trees on an estimated 40,000 acres.
  • North Carolina ranks second in the nation for the number of trees grown and harvested each year, or about 20% of the real Christmas trees grown in the U.S.
  • For each acre of Christmas trees planted, the trees produce enough oxygen to meet the needs of 18 people.
  • For each tree harvested, one or two are planted to replace it.
  • In the U.S., more than 500,000 acres of Christmas trees are planted each year.
