Searching for a local springtime getaway filled with outdoor adventure and family fun? Look no further than the Albemarle area.

Stanly County comes alive in the spring,” says Chris Lambert, executive director of the Stanly County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It’s the perfect time and place to find your adventure.”

The area comes alive in more ways than one. The trees in 23 area parks and the Uwharrie Mountains are waking up, and the two area lakes are warming up. As they do, your opportunities to experience natural beauty, local history and enjoyable exercise multiply.

“This is a place that you can get back to nature,” Lambert says. “It’s also a place that you can unwind with your friends at a local vineyard.”

Steeped in nature and small-town charm, Stanly County is also 45 minutes from Charlotte and only a few hours from the Great Smoky Mountains to the west and the coast to the east.

“It has it all!” Lambert says.

Scroll through the slideshow for nine ways to get out and about in Stanly County. Whether you’re in the mood for hiking, boating, chipping or sipping, the perfect activity awaits.
