North Carolina Watermelon Festival – CANCELED

Canceled for 2020, Historic Downtown Murfreesboro

When do you go at red and stop at green? When you’re eating a watermelon!

You can do just that at this year’s annual North Carolina Watermelon Festival. Held for more than 30 years in historic downtown Murfreesboro, this fruitful festival celebrates all things watermelon.

This year’s theme is “A Celebration of Summertime Fun.” Watermelon hits its prime in August, sweetening backyard barbecues, lazy-day picnics on the grass and beach parties. Festival patrons will once again experience a variety of entertainment, arts and crafts, great food, a 5K race/walk, fireworks and a carnival atmosphere. This year’s craft area will feature a large market tent to spotlight regional wares – food, pottery, peanuts and watermelon items.

Festivities kick off Wednesday, July 31 and the event is open to the public. For more information, visit or call (252) 398-7695.
