Excellence in Agriculture Award Winner
Elton Baldy’s passion for helping others in the agriculture industry has earned him this year’s N.C. Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture Award.
The Excellence in Agriculture Award Program is designed for those who do not currently farm full-time. Participants are judged on their involvement in agribusiness, leadership roles, civic organizations and Farm Bureau.
Baldy hails from Durham, where he was raised on the family farm that he now co-owns with his brother. He pursued a degree in agricultural education and currently serves as the U.S. Food Chain and Sustainability Manager with Bayer CropScience. He is also a certified auctioneer.
“I have great personal interest in exposing young people to all facets of the agriculture industry, from production to the science of the business,” Baldy says. “I look forward to spending the rest of my career in agriculture and raising my family to be ambassadors for the industry.”
