Highlighting county news and events from North Carolina Farm Bureau members throughout the state.
UNION COUNTY Farm Bureau board member Frank Howey was recently featured in an article in the Union County Enquirer Journal. Howey was highlighted for being the county’s first farmer to participate in a land preservation project to keep Frank Howey Farm in agricultural use. The land was purchased by the Catawba Lands Conservancy. Howey said in the article that he’s putting the land into conservation because he believes in the importance of keeping food production close to the population to reduce transport costs, air pollution and spoiled produce.
