John Norwood grew up on his fifth-generation tobacco farm in Rockingham County and today raises his two children with his wife, Kristen, on the same farm. Kristen is a seventh-generation farmer from a Rutherford County beef cattle farm. Both NC State University graduates, they married in 2016 and bought Norwood Meador Farms from John’s grandparents, where they now raise cattle, pork and lamb. Kristen serves on the Rockingham County Cattlemen’s Association board, and John serves on advisory boards for Rockingham County Farm Bureau, Rockingham County Agriculture, Cooperative Extension, and NCSU Bio and Ag Engineering.
