The North Carolina Sweetpotato Commission is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021, and you can join in the celebration by filling your plate with delicious sweetpotatoes – the official state vegetable of North Carolina.

Thanks to the state’s prime growing conditions with sandy soil and a warm climate, North Carolina is the No. 1 producer of sweetpotatoes in the country. And that’s great news for North Carolinians because it means locally grown sweetpotatoes are available year-round. Perfect for all kinds of sweet and savory dishes, from sweetpotato pies and cakes to casseroles, soups and even smoothies, this top crop can be a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal.
