Buffer Zones

Farmers often plant vegetation between fields and bodies of water, like streams and lakes, to create “buffer zones,” which protect water quality and reduce soil erosion. Buffer zones can prove to be especially helpful for downstream water users, because the cost of water treatment will decrease when good water quality is maintained.
