Head to High Point for a visit to the High Point Museum, which showcases local history with more than 30 miniatures, living history demonstrations, educational programs, events and much more. The core gallery of the museum focuses on the history of High Point, including the people who lived, worked and worshiped in the town since its establishment. Other exhibits include High Point’s Furniture Heritage, which illustrates the relationship between locals and the furniture industry and Meredith’s Miniatures, featuring real rooms like Monet’s kitchen or a fantasy garden, all on a 1-to-12 scale. On Saturdays, venture next door to the Historical Park, which includes the historic John Haley House, Little Red Schoolhouse, Hoggatt House and a working blacksmith shop.
The High Point Museum is a Certified Autism Center and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Historical Park is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both are located at 1859 E. Lexington Ave. in High Point. Reservations are not required. Visit highpointnc.gov or call 336-885-1859 before you go for an updated list of events and exhibits.
