Named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society, the Havelock Chili Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The event kicks off with the wings competition on Friday night. Then, the chili competition takes place Saturday as some of the best red chili cooks from all over the eastern United States gather to compete for the top prize. The event will also include crafts booths and food vendors offering a variety of tasty snacks. The festival takes place at Walter B. Jones Park from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
