Last year marked the first time in 75 years that the North Carolina State Fair was canceled. But it’s back for 2021, and fair manager Kent Yelverton promises “it will be worth the wait.”

In fact, says Yelverton, “Worth the Wait” is the theme for the 2021 North Carolina State Fair. “The public, the vendors and the staff are all looking forward to the return of the fair,” he says. “While we were very pleased to have been able to still offer the junior livestock show and a takeout fair food event last October, everyone missed the opportunity to get together and fully celebrate agriculture. We’re excited that it will happen this year, and we’re ready to welcome everyone back to safely share the fun.”

Here are six great opportunities to learn more about agriculture and share the fun:

Agriculture has a tremendous impact on the daily lives of North Carolinians, and this year’s fair will showcase it at the most iconic building on the fairgrounds. Dorton Arena will return to its roots as an agriculture facility and will be the site of the Got to Be NC Pavilion. Inside, you’ll find a cooking demonstration stage, Got to Be NC products, spotlights on local farmers, Got to Be NC merchandise and on-the-spot competitions.

“The State Fair’s purpose is to highlight agriculture, and what better way to demonstrate that priority than to have Got to Be NC in our signature facility right in the heart of the fairgrounds?” Yelverton says.
