Peachland soybean farmer James Caudle participated in the experience of a lifetime last year.
After the 2014 soybean harvest was completed, Caudle traveled to Panama and Ecuador as part of the United Soybean Board’s See for Yourself program, which gives U.S. farmers the chance to see the checkoff in action and how their soybeans are used across the globe. Caudle was one of only 10 U.S. farmers selected to participate.
A member of the Anson County Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers committee, Caudle and the other participants learned more about international customers’ needs for soybean meal and oil in both the animal agriculture and food industries.
In an interview with Southern Farm Network, Caudle says the trip exceeded his expectations. “I come from a small community, so it’s been interesting to see the uses of U.S. soybeans,” he says. “I was excited to see how utilized they are here.”
