Kai Ritchie, a student at LaFayette Elementary School in Harnett County, helped with a sweet potato gleaning project as part of Harnett County Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom efforts.
HARNETT COUNTY Farm Bureau and Ag in the Classroom were partners with Harnett County farmers in a recent gleaning project in which students from LaFayette Elementary School collected sweet potatoes for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Teacher Regina Griggs had past and present second-graders grow strawberries and sweet potatoes to show students where their food comes from and the importance of farming.
