FFA ENDOWMENT Several county FARM BUREAUS contributed to a new endowment for the Northwest FFA Region. Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Caldwell, Catawba, Forsyth, Iredell, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties helped the Northwest FFA Region fulfill the necessary $15,000 in contributions and pledges for the Northwest FFA Regional Endowment, which will help provide resources for regional officers, activities and competitions. The endowment was signed April 23 at Burke Community College, and Farm Bureau signers included R.G. Shipley, Watauga; Judy Bare, Ashe; and Brent Hunter, Yadkin. Shipley was also honored as the oldest retired agriculture educator in North Carolina.

FORSYTH COUNTY Farm Bureau sponsored the first Clover Classic Junior Livestock Show March 17-18 at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem. Cooperative Extension coordinated the event, which featured youth from North Carolina and Virginia exhibiting beef heifers, ewes and does. County President Edgar Miller was the event emcee.
