Ag Night at the Ballpark

We all sing about peanuts and Cracker Jacks during a baseball game’s seventh-inning stretch, but how often do you think about where those peanuts come from and the farmers who grow them?

That’s one reason the Randolph County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee hosted Agriculture Night at the Asheboro Copperheads Game. County agriculture facts were announced during each inning, agriculture education materials were provided to fans, virtual reality headsets showing a dairy farm operation were available to use, a barrel cow was provided for fans to “milk,” a GPS-driven John Deere Gator was on display to educate fans about advances in agriculture technology and information about Farm Bureau and the importance of agriculture was provided through brochures and conversations with fans. Drawings were held each inning for door prizes donated by area agriculture-related businesses, and Randolph County YF&R chairperson Allison Walker threw out the first pitch. This event was a fun way to educate county citizens about local agriculture and the important role farmers play in their daily lives.
