In Memoriam

Jack Fleming Shore, 82, passed away July 7, 2016, at his home in Yadkin County. He and his wife, Martha, enjoyed being together running the farm business and traveling extensively. They worked together leading the local 4-H club and showing cows at the Dixie Classic and state fair. Jack worked hard on the farm from sunrise to sunset and was an early innovator in modern farming practices. He was active in the Yadkin County Cattlemen’s Association, serving as president and in many other offices. He is past president of the N.C. State Cattlemen’s Association, where he also served on several committees of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and the National Livestock and Meat Board. He was president of the Yadkin County Farm Bureau from 1987 to 2004, and served on the county board since 1970 and the state board since 2000. He was inducted into the N.C. State Fair Hall of Fame in 1998, recognizing his statewide service to North Carolina agriculture.
