Clay County Farm Bureau

Clay County

The 8th Annual Clay County Tractor Parade and Ag Day raised more than $2,500 for the Dwight Smith Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to Clay County students interested in agricultural fields of study. North Carolina Farm Bureau sponsored this day by providing each participant in the parade with a T-shirt. They also brought the NCFB Ag Simulator, which is made from the cab of a combine and contains short videos on crops. The target audience is K-5, however, some 220 people enjoyed their trips through the fields and orchards of North Carolina, learning about cotton, tomatoes, corn, soybeans, apples and other crops. The goal of the day was to connect attendees with the roots of ag in Clay County and let them glimpse “new” farming while raising money for a worthy cause.
