FORSYTH COUNTY Farm Bureau donated $4,000 to help create the new Triad Farm to Table community supported agriculture (CSA) program this summer. Board member James Hester is the director of Triad Farm to Table, which involves farmers from Forsyth and surrounding counties to meet the demand and offers eight pick-up sites for customers’ convenience. About 140 customers signed up for the first summer CSA, and the group just wrapped up a six-week fall CSA. The money helped buy boxes, a laptop, a printer and pay the co-managers until the CSA was up and running. Farm Bureau members volunteer, serve on the board and grow for the CSA.

GREENE COUNTY Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors and Women’s Committee donated $1,000 to Greene County Middle School to help purchase teaching supplies for teachers. The school was destroyed by the April 2011 tornadoes.
