What started as a hobby has turned into a booming business called Savory Spoon.
Dawn Arnold has always loved spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for others, and she became known for preparing and making goody baskets typically filled with homemade cheese straws.

The little cheesy snacks became so beloved, Arnold started preparing them on a larger scale and created her company.

While finding her groove in the kitchen, Arnold also found herself slipping into some unfavorable food habits. She got herself on a better path and created Savory Spoon Healthy Spice Blends to simplify and enhance home cooking. Enjoy all Savory Spoon products including cheese straw varieties like pimento cheese and original. Spice blends include Cajun, taco, fajita, Asian, Greek and spicy basil.

Visit the Savory Spoon store at 5609 Barham Siding Road in Wake Forest, which also has specialty pop-up bakery hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. one Saturday each month. Learn more and purchase online at savoryspoonnc.com.

G to launch a home based food business currently, this story inspires me!
My mama use it make them years ago. Would love to get them for her as she is 92 years old now and hasn’t made them for years now. Would be a great surprise for her.
As a true old southern girl & great cook (I’ve always been told), I don’t make cheese straws but love to eat really good ones! Now honest to goodness–who doesn’t love a light crisp complex cheesy touch of spice BUNCH of cheese straws on a festive platter especially around the holidays?? Makes me hungry thinking about that look/smell & taste! If I win; I’ll make some (with a good recipe supplied) & let y’all know how they turn out. Happy Holidays & hoping I’m the lucky winner!!
Cheese straws, say less.
