Did you know that 40% of the food that’s grown, processed and transported will never be consumed? Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is working to change that statistic while fighting to end hunger in North Carolina. The Raleigh-based organization recovers nearly 6 million pounds of food per year to distribute to those in need. About 36% of the food the organization distributes is fresh produce, much of which is sourced from local North Carolina farms.

As a member of the Feeding America National Network of Food Banks, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle also provides programs teaching self-sufficiency to empower people to meet their own food needs, including skills in beginner gardening and healthy cooking on a budget.

The Food Shuttle operates in a seven-county service area that includes Durham, Chatham, Edgecombe, Johnston, Nash, Orange and Wake counties. To learn more and find out how you can contribute or volunteer, visit foodshuttle.org or call (919) 250-0043.
