North Carolina Farm Bureau Executive Board of Directors member Bobby Winfield Park, 86, of Elkin, passed away Aug. 19.

Park was born in Surry County on Jan. 5, 1927 to the late James and Beulah Sloop Park. Park served many roles in Surry County Farm Bureau, including president, and served on the state Board of Directors from 1976 until his passing. He also served the North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company since 1969.

Park served in the U.S. Navy and was in World War II from 1944-46.

In addition to his parents, Park was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Park; a daughter, Elaine Park; a sister, Ruby Faye Couch; and a brother, Roger Park. Surviving are two sons, Michael D. Park of State Road and Phillip G. Park of Elkin; three sisters, Marie Combs of Elkin, Louise Coram of Raleigh and Sadie Martin of Elkin; a granddaughter, Lindsey M. Park; several nieces and nephews, and special caregiver, Victoria Sepeda.

Park was buried Aug. 20 in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
