Founded in 1993, North Carolina Hunters for the Hungry is working to end hunger and malnutrition in local communities across the state. The nonprofit organization works with licensed hunters who choose to donate legally harvested deer to those in need.
The donated deer are processed in state-inspected facilities that make venison burgers, a low-fat, high-protein meat source. Then, food distribution networks supply the ground venison to shelters, soup kitchens, churches and other community organizations that assist individuals and families in need.
