Five Points Baking Co. has made the classic Southern cheese straw even better.
Produced in small batches, the Raleigh-based company makes natural, artisanal cheese straws from almonds that are free of gluten and wheat and are naturally low-carb – making them the perfect guilt-free snack.
The mission of the company is to help provide customers with special dietary restrictions – or those who just want to snack healthfully – with an all-natural snack that doesn’t sacrifice flavors or texture.
The company was inspired by the founder’s husband, who is a Type I diabetic with celiac disease. He wanted something to snack on by the handful, but found that low-carb, gluten-free snacks were very limited. After developing the perfect cheese straw, the bakery has expanded to pumpkin spice and almond shortbreads, snickerdoodle cookies and even some custom orders.
