Summer of Service
Polk County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee was busy during the summer of 2025. To promote agriculture at the local farmers market, they gave away strawberry plants, strawberries, books and activities.
Later, they had a blueberry bonanza, serving blueberries, jams and desserts, and promoting the Blueberry Ag Mag and blueberry planter box books. On Independence Day, the women were front and center at the 62nd Fabulous 4th of July Celebration in Columbus, with prizes, games, giveaways and activities for the crowd.

Appropriately Named
The Education Room of the WNC Regional Livestock Center was named the “William H. (Bill) Teague Education Room” in honor of Buncombe County Farm Bureau President Bill Teague. The farmer and former educator was recognized during a ceremony last spring for his many contributions to the agricultural industry.
One of the main impacts Teague made was supporting the concept for the center, which serves as a place for farmers to sell livestock in the region without having to drive long distances to other markets.

Feeding the Farmers
During the Northampton County Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee Farmer Appreciation Day lunch at the Farm Bureau office in Jackson, more than 100 plate lunches were served to local farmers and their workers. The event aimed to show appreciation for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the community, state and country. Local people and businesses donated door prizes for the lunch.
