National Honeybee Event

Hardworking honeybees are extremely important to North Carolina’s – and the nation’s – agriculture industry. In fact, the honeybee is the official state insect of North Carolina.

The Duplin County Beekeepers Association is bringing that importance to the forefront with their National Honeybee Day event. The free event takes place Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lois G. Britt Agricultural Center in Kenansville.

Visitors can experience fun and educational exhibits, including a live observation hive and demonstrations of beekeeping equipment, plus participate in discussions on how bees benefit local agriculture.

Duplin County beekeepers will be on hand for questions and more on how to become a certified beekeeper.

Find out more on the Duplin County Beekeepers Association Facebook page or by calling (910) 296-2143.
