Located in the heart of the Yadkin Valley about 35 miles west of Winston-Salem, Laurel Gray Vineyards is a family-owned vineyard with deep roots in North Carolina. The farm traces its roots all the way back to 1773, when Joseph Myers, the gardener for King George and Queen Charlotte of England, was given a land grant of 400 acres in Yadkin Valley as a gift for his dedicated service to the royals. Myers began growing vegetables and herbs as the first of ten generations that would come to farm the same land.

Two hundred years later, Myers’ ancestor Benny Myers and his wife, Kim, began researching agricultural alternatives to tobacco for their 84-acre farm. After visiting several wine regions in the U.S. and Europe and doing plenty of research, the couple planted their first grapes in 2001.

Today, Laurel Gray Vineyards encompasses 15 acres dedicated to French vinifera grapes including chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, viognier, petit verdot, merlot and more. They also operate a tasting room and an online shop offering a range of wines and homemade sauces – including a unique caramel sauce made with a bit of the vineyard’s chardonnay.
