Farm Bureau Magazine Continues to Serve Members

With fall upon us and the New Year just around the corner, it’s time to reflect on the past in order to plan for the future.

During the last year, we evaluated many of the membership benefits we provide to the more than 500,000 member families of North Carolina Farm Bureau. Our partnership with General Motors, for example, has resulted in more than $1.4 million in savings for members who took advantage of the $500 discount on purchases of new vehicles.

Another member service that has been wildly popular with members is our partnership with Choice Hotels. When members make a reservation, they are eligible for a discount of up to 20 percent off their stay. Members have saved more than $256,000 this year alone.

These are just two examples of ways Farm Bureau’s $25 membership more than pays for itself when members take advantage of their benefits.

Farm Bureau is also looking out for members who experience the misfortune of having their identity stolen and their credit compromised as a result. Through our partnership with ID Experts, members in this situation have a well-versed advocate on their side who will tirelessly work to repair the damage done by what is now the fastest growing crime in America.

By far, our most widely-used member benefit is the variety of insurance products available through North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Companies. The sale and service of quality insurance products by 800 professional agents is another way membership in Farm Bureau doesn’t cost, it pays!

We are constantly updating these member benefits to better serve you. The member benefit you hold in your hands right now is no different. After careful evaluation and consideration over the past several years, North Carolina Farm Bureau is proud to announce the launch of our new membership magazine, North Carolina Field and Family®, beginning with the first issue of 2014.

We began publishing a magazine for our members more than 50 years ago with the introduction of the Farm Bureau News. Since then, the magazine has evolved as our membership has grown to include North Carolinians from all walks of life, including farmers, rural families, and suburban/urban residents.

As part of our ongoing mission to improve the quality of life for farmers, rural residents and our non-farmer members, our Board of Directors approved a new partnership with nationally recognized agribusiness and lifestyle publisher Journal Communications of Franklin, Tenn.

Journal has extensive experience working with state Farm Bureaus, as well as agricultural organizations and state departments of commerce and tourism. We are supremely confident their expertise will help make our new and improved magazine a publication of which our members can be proud.

A major part of the new magazine partnership is a digital and online effort that will help North Carolina Field and Family® reach beyond the mailbox and coffee table and into the laptops, desktops and mobile electronic devices that will define the future of communications.

With your continued support as a member of North Carolina Farm Bureau, we hope to continue educating, entertaining and explaining the many reasons Farm Bureau and Agriculture keep North Carolina growing!
