She read the book to them and talked about the importance of eating vegetables and how they get from the fields to their plates.

Right: GRAHAM COUNTY Farm Bureau President Roger Hyatt, left, accepts an award to go along with his induction into the Western North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame from board member Raymond Norton. The 23rd annual Western North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held May 17 at the Mountain Horticulture Crops Research & Extension Center in Mills River. Hyatt had a long career with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service and was instrumental in introducing commercial squash, trellised cucumber and tomato production to counties in the far west.
