Honoring an Agricultural Advocate
Don Smart, president of the Haywood County Farm Bureau, presented Bill Yarborough with a custom-made, engraved pocketknife on behalf of the county Farm Bureau to honor Yarborough for his many years of service to agriculture. Yarborough recently retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (NCDA&CS). He most recently held the position of special assistant to NCDA&CS Commissioner Steve Troxler and previously served as a regional agronomist. Yarborough has always been a strong advocate for agriculture both on and off the job, and he still serves many volunteer roles to support the industry. Yarborough may be retired, but he continues to be a friend to and a trusted resource for farmers.
