Wake County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee Chair Shirley Burt visited Brassfield Elementary as a guest speaker for the fourth grade’s NC Commodity Day. Burt spoke to students in June 2013 about the importance of agriculture and shared about farming in Wake County. At the end of the discussion, students learned how to milk Bernice the Dairy Cow.

Wake County Farm Bureau President Jackie Thompson and Vice President Richard Jenks attended the North Carolina Agribusiness Council Reception on June 25. The event was held at the Executive Mansion.

Wake County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee Member Faye Congleton attended the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market on July 24. A display board that contained information on sun safety was used at the event. In addition to the display board, North Carolina Farm Bureau sunscreen packets were distributed. To reach children in attendance, Willy’s Fire Safety Coloring Books were passed out.
