A yearly tradition since 1992, the National Gingerbread House Competition invites guests to witness stunning holiday creations at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville.

Originally, the event was simply another way to get into the holiday spirit, but it has grown into one of the most celebrated competitions, with judges including nationally renowned food, arts and media professionals. It has even been broadcast on ABC’s Good Morning America, the Travel Channel and the Food Network.

This year, the competition celebrates 25 years. Visitors can see entries in categories ranging from child to adult, and gingerbread houses don’t actually have to be houses, as long as they meet competition criteria, including that everything above the base must be edible, and the entry should be at least 75 percent gingerbread.

This year’s competition display will be open to the public from Nov. 26 through Jan. 4. Visit omnihotels.com for more information and specific viewing times.
